EVENT RULES

1. MINIMUM AGE- Neotropolis is a fully immersive themed event for people 18 years of age or older. You must be a minimum of 18 years old by the starting day of the event in order to participate. A government-issued photo ID is REQUIRED for proof of age and entry. No exceptions will be made.

2. LAWS- All local, county, state, and federal laws apply to the event. This includes assault and theft. Law enforcement officers will be present on site.

3.  DRUGS- This is a drug-free event. Possession or use of illicit substances is prohibited by law. The possession of any illegal drug with intent to distribute is an even more serious felony offense. The possession of large quantities or a variety of drugs may be interpreted as evidence of intent to distribute. Possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to use it to ingest a controlled substance is a violation of the law. Giving illegal substances to someone else could be considered drug trafficking.

4.  HARASSMENT POLICY- All members of Wasteland World’s event community have the right to be treated with -- and the responsibility to treat others with -- dignity and respect. Wasteland World events are intended to be a safe space for all attendees. Wasteland World events are private parties, and our online groups are not open to the public.
Your attendance at one of our events, and your membership in our online community, can be revoked at any time, at the discretion of our staff, for any reason, with or without notice. Our most important goal is the safety and enjoyment of our attendees.

For more information, please refer to Wasteland World’s official HARASSMENT POLICY.

5. ENTRY SEARCH- Wasteland World events are private and thus reserves the right to search all persons, vehicles, and camps at any time. Your vehicle may be searched upon entry to events held on our property.

6. WRISTBANDS- Neotropolis is a private event and requires that wristbands must be worn at all times.  If you lose your wristband, please report back to the check-in gate with your ID. Do not take your wristband off during the event. Wristbands may NOT be transferred from one person to another.

7. LITTER AND TRASH- If you bring it in or make it, please haul it back out. Please bring trash bags to collect and dispose of the trash from your camp.

8. ALCOHOL AND MINORS- No alcohol may be served, given, or distributed to minors. If you are caught doing so, local authorities will be contacted, and you will be ejected from the event without a refund.

9. ALCOHOL SALES AND SHARING- Alcoholic beverages may not be sold at Wasteland World events held on our property. This is a BYOB (bring your own booze) event. You may bring alcoholic beverages to share with your friends.  Unopened, store bought-beverages (including soft drinks) may be donated to the official Megablock One community bar (where they are mixed by our bartenders into drinks that are offered at no charge to those over 21). Camps may not set up their own bars to hand out drinks to passersby. Sharing drinks with friends within your camp is allowed.

10. FOOD AND SHARING- County Health says that anyone SELLING OR HANDING OUT out an item to be ingested by the public at the event is considered a food vendor, and needs to be registered as one.
This includes ice, bottled water, and any pre-packaged food or snacks.

11. LOCAL WILDLIFE- The Mojave Desert is home to many known endangered and threatened species of wildlife. A particularly well-documented local endangered species is the Desert Tortoise. Please do not try to handle, move, feed, or disturb them. If a Desert Tortoise is found, please inform any senior staff member. There could also be more dangerous creatures including but not limited to rattlesnakes, scorpions, and coyotes. Some critters like to shade under your vehicle while it's parked, so it's never a bad idea to do a walk around your vehicle and check under your tires before you start rolling again at the end of your visit. We ask you to please not disturb any living creature within this habitat. This is their home, and we are visiting it.

12. PETS / ANIMALS- Pets are NOT permitted at the event. No dogs, no cats, no reptiles, no insects. NO animals may be brought on site. Love your pets? Don’t bring them to Neotropolis. (More about this in our Pets / Animals Policy further down this page)

13. FIREWORKS / EXPLOSIVES / SMOKE- Please do not bring any fireworks, sparklers, bottle rockets, live ammunition, smoke-generating devices (with or without fuses), or explosives of any kind to the event.
No fire performance of any kind is allowed. No road flares may be used (except in case of emergency).

14. ARRIVALS - The event opens to attendees on Wednesday. Check in opens at 7am, though drivers may park in line as early as midnight if desired.  Only individuals and groups with prior approval and early arrival passes will be permitted to set up before the event is open (generally staff, some volunteers and factions, and certain media crew).

15. ENTRANCE / EXIT- When entering or exiting the event, please use the check in gate entrance and exit only.

16. PERIMETER FENCE- The perimeter fence around the event site is not to be cut, broken, removed, circumvented, or altered in any way.

17. SIGNS- Please do not remove, take, or alter any of the road signs that direct patrons to the event, or any within the event. If caught with one of our event signs in your possession, you will be ejected from the event without a refund. They are the property of Wasteland World and are important for safety and the general atmosphere of your fellow attendees.

18. VANDALISM- writing, stickers, paint, scribing into metal, etc. onto surfaces and/or persons without EXPRESS permission will not be tolerated, and is grounds for expulsion from our events. If you bring stickers to the event, they are your responsibility. If they end up on something they shouldn't, it is always the sticker-maker's fault, regardless of who placed it. So, think carefully before you bring or give out stickers.

19. FIRE DEVICES / FLAMETHROWERS- Mechanical fire devices for entertainment purposes are generally prohibited (flame throwers, brush burners, propane poppers, etc.) and obviously, nothing that explodes.  Store-bought (UL-listed) and unaltered propane and other flame devices used for their intended purposes of cooking are allowed within designated areas.

20. LASERS- Due to our proximity to Edwards Air Force Base and a local municipal airport, strict care must be taken with lasers at all time, including laser pointers. Anyone seen pointing any laser above the horizon is subject to immediate removal from the event. Don’t ever point a laser where it could hit someone’s eyes, because that’s just dangerous and stupid.

21. DRONES / REMOTE CONTROLLED AIRCRAFT- Remote-controlled aircraft (drones or any other type, with cameras or without, regardless of size) are not allowed at Wasteland World events. The only exception is for video crews who have prior written permission from Wasteland World management, specifically for drone filming. Any unauthorized drone use may result in ejection from the event.

22.  SOUND AND VOLUME - Attendees are not allowed to bring their own sound system.  This is to help preserve the immersive theme and to preserve the enjoyment of the majority of attendees.
For more detailed information, please see our SOUND and VOLUME POLICY here.

23. THEME and COSTUMES- This is a fully-immersive, themed event and theme-appropriate costumes must be worn by everyone in ALL areas of the event. For more information, please read our comprehensive Theme Zone page.

24. PHOTOS AND VIDEO- Taking photos and video at Wasteland World events have some restrictions.
There is NO LIVE STREAMING allowed.
See below for more about photos, video, and promoting products and services.

25. GRAFFITI / STICKERS / FLYERS. Please do not place stickers, googley eyes, or deface (with pen or paint) someone’s person, personal property, Faction area, Megablock One, or vehicle without EXPRESS permission. This means no ‘pranking’ a Sentinel with a silly sticker on their armor or prop weapon, painting a slogan on someone else’s Faction area, or defacing official themed areas with non-approved posters or artwork.

PETS / ANIMALS

Pets are NOT permitted at the event. No dogs, no cats, no reptiles, no insects. NO animals may be brought on site. Love your pets? Don’t bring them to Wasteland World events. (With the exception of genuine ADA service dogs- who must be leashed at all times- see below.)

The conditions on site are not friendly to our canine friends. Heat and the desert environment can take a heavy toll. Costumed people, loud noises, moving vehicles, desert wildlife, all of these can make the event a scary, even deadly environment for pets.

Per Title II and III of the ADA, exceptions will be made for disabled persons with service dogs.  Emotional support and/or therapy dogs are not designated service dogs as defined by the ADA, and thus are not permitted entry.  Select onsite build crew who are on site for an extended period of time may be permitted to bring dogs if pre-approved.

This decision was reached with the utmost concern for the health and well being of both dogs and Wasteland World event participants. As fellow animal lovers, we thank you for understanding and abiding by this policy.

Attendee Conduct Towards Actors

We want to stress how important it is that ALL attendees be courteous and respectful towards our actors. This includes new performers who will be interacting with you as the heads of the three Allegiances. But it also, especially, concerns The Sentinels.

At our first event in 2022, there was a lot of enthusiasm around our fictional planetary security force, The Sentinels. But a few attendees took things a bit too far. Some interactions became unacceptable, and included things like pushing, shoving, defacing property (costumes and props), as well as verbally attacking the actors portraying Sentinels.

We want to make it VERY clear that at no time is it okay to touch anyone at our event without their consent, this includes our actors and performers. It’s not okay to push them, it’s not okay to put stickers on their costumes, it’s not okay to grab them. It’s not okay to drop items down the backs of their uniforms. It’s not okay to scream in their faces, even if you are just “LARPing.”

These aren't just actors who are there to perform a role in order to enhance your immersion, they are your fellow attendees, and they must be treated with respect. Even if they are occasionally playing the role of “villains.” These as well as our official rules WILL be enforced, and attendees may be removed from the event based on the severity of the violation.

Likewise, our Sentinels team has been instructed on appropriate ways to interact with attendees. Yes, as part of an interactive mission, The Sentinels may “take you into custody," but not without the attendee's consent. They even have citations they can give out, and a ‘detention cell’ for other interactions.

As far as the Sentinels being a “villain” role - sometimes they are, sometimes they are not. It can depend on which Allegiance you are with, and the current mission you are on. The Sentinels are not wholly owned by any Allegiance. and you may find them on various sides of the Neotropolis ‘in-world conflicts’ happening. Depending on what you’re trying to get done on the streets of the city, there are times when the Sentinels may become your best friends…

For this year, each Sentinel squad will have a Supervisor- a Sentinel who is wearing armor but no helmet (just a watch cap), whose role is to interact with attendees while leading their squad. This is the person to talk to if you have any issues or questions about a mission, etc.. This is also the person who may have to give you a warning if your interaction is violating our rules of conduct. Please listen to them.

Additionally, we will also have a Desk Clerk at the Sentinels module in Megablock One (map here) during normal operating hours. This clerk is who to talk to if you have any Sentinels concerns (either mission/story-related, or conduct questions / concerns). And of course if you have any real life security concerns, please go to our Security Tent, Command Center, or alert a staff member.

Our Sentinels team is excited to be part of the city this year, and to be part of helping YOU have exciting missions and immersive fun while visiting Neotropolis.

VEHICLE RULES

1. VEHICLE CHECK - All vehicles must enter the event through the check-in station and stop for check-in staff. All vehicles must wait in line, even if they have been checked in previously and are returning. (Emergency vehicles and event staff vehicles on assigned event business excepted.)  ALL vehicles at Wasteland Weekend/Neotropolis are subject to inspection by Wasteland Weekend/Neotropolis staff at ANY time, for ANY reason. It is our job to ensure the safety of our attendees, and that could include determining that certain vehicles are not safe to transport passengers, drive in certain areas, or at all.

2. VEHICLE HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS- Any vehicle, camp, or carried item cannot exceed 14 feet in height.

3. DRIVING - Vehicles within the grounds of the event (including Wasteland City/NEO City and the other areas within the perimeter) must move at 5MPH or LESS at all times. No unsafe maneuvers or styles of driving that kick up dust are allowed.
We shouldn’t have to say this, but do NOT drag anyone behind your vehicle, no matter what the speed. Avoid leaving vehicles idling near campsites, especially where people are sleeping.
Driving within the 100% themed area aka Neotropolis City/NEO City IS permitted after dark but with specific restrictions (see more below under Special/Themed Vehicles) and all vehicles driving at night must use headlights.
Be extra careful when driving your vehicle at night near camp sites. Tent support lines can be very hard to see. Driving outside the perimeter of the event is at your own risk but should always be done safely and within the law. Reckless or unsafe driving outside the perimeter of the event can still subject you to discipline by our staff, up to and including ejection from the event.

Drinking alcohol and driving is never tolerated under any circumstances, and any incidents will be referred to local police.

4. PARKING - Consult the map for areas in which to park your vehicle. Parking is included in your ticket price, and is generally allowed outside the Theme Zone areas as long as you do not block roads. You may park you car within your camp outside the Theme Zone; you do not need to park in a designated parking area and camp away from your vehicle (in most circumstances), but we do have a large parking lot that we recommend for those who wish to use it.

Do NOT park any non-themed vehicles in the themed area after the event begins. Non-themed vehicles that need to load or unload within the themed area will need permission from staff.

Do NOT park your vehicle anywhere outside the event perimeter. Most of the surrounding property around Neotropolis is private, and your vehicle could be cited or towed by law enforcement.

5. HELMETS - DOT-approved helmets are strongly encouraged to be worn at all times while riding any kind of motorcycle, ATV/quad, motorized bicycle, or scooter, regardless of where you are riding it, or your speed. Because the event takes place on private property, helmets are not REQUIRED while on the event site. However, event staff still has the right to put a stop to any vehicular behavior they feel is unsafe, regardless of whether or not you are wearing a helmet.

6. SPECIAL / THEMED VEHICLES- Only approved themed vehicles will be allowed in the themed area.
More information about this, including driving at night, can be found HERE.
[Mobility devices FOR THE DISABLED are always allowed in all areas. Theming for these devices is optional. If the mobility device is not for the disabled, then yes, GRID RIDER permits are required for themed vehicles to drive in and around the official Theme Zone.]

7. OFF-ROAD VEHICLE /OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE (OHV) REQUIREMENTS - If you plan to bring an off-road vehicle (buggy, ATV, dirt bike etc.) we suggest you purchase an annual OHV permit (Street Operating Permit) from California City. On weekdays, they are available from the police department. On weekends, you can purchase one at Borax Bill Park. California City is the third largest city in California, in terms of area, and boasts hundreds of miles of dirt roads that criss-cross the desert.

Any vehicle that is not currently DMV registered must have a current OHV permit if you plan to drive it outside the grounds of Neotropolis.

Planning to drive outside the event site and wondering whether you really need an OHV permit?  Check out our handy flowchart here! Neotropolis does not sell these permits. For more information, go here: (you will see a list of business in red on the left of the site that sell the needed OHV permits) California City Police Dept - D.I.R.T.

CAMP RULES

You may NOT land grab or cordon-off any camping areas. Please be respectful of other attendees.

1. MUSIC / NOISE - Please read our SOUND and VOLUME POLICY here.

2. FIRES / CAMPFIRES- No open flames are allowed inside the Theme Zone.

No fire spinning or fire performances are allowed at Neotropolis.

Cooking fires are allowed outside of the Theme Zone, subject to safety rulings of Event Control and the local Fire Authorities. Cooking fires must be attended at ALL times. If you are walking away from camp, or going to bed for the night, extinguish your cooking fire. Winds often make fires a danger, so come prepared to quickly extinguish your fire.

Event staff can and will extinguish any unattended fire. All cooking fires must have a fire extinguisher, bucket of water, and/or shovel on hand. Cooking fires cannot exceed 2’ in diameter and 3’ in height. All cooking fires outside of a non-combustible receptacle must be recessed 1’ into the ground or surrounded by a 1’ tall dirt or rock berm. The County recommends every campsite that intends to have a fire or burn barrel must have a fire permit, available for free from the link below. Cooking fires cannot be located within 10 feet of vegetation, a tent, or structures of any kind. Cooking fires must be kept a minimum of 25 feet from fuel sources. The only allowable fuel sources on site are charcoal and clean wood.

Fire Permits: http://www.preventwildfireca.org/Permits/

Personal camp cooking is permitted. The County recommends all cooking be done on propane appliances. Cooking cannot be done within an enclosed space outside of cooking on RV cooking appliances. Cooking appliances should not be placed on plastic tables. All cooking appliances should be kept a minimum of 10’ from vegetation, tents, and structures of any kind, as well as 25’ from stored fuel sources.

Fireworks of ANY kind are strictly forbidden, and are not be brought to this event.

Flamethrowers, flame “poppers,” and all variations of liquid or pressurized fuel devices are NOT ALLOWED at the event. This includes (but is not limited to) brush burners, torches, jet engines/devices, flame throwing guitars, simulated explosions, sound makers, flame cannons, or any other flame device that utilizes liquid or gaseous fuel. DO NOT BRING THEM. California laws are very strict, and Wasteland has a zero tolerance regarding flame devices. Failure to observe this policy may result in expulsion from the event.

3. GENERATORS- Wasteland World strongly recommends propane or diesel generators instead of gasoline-powered ones. Personal generators for your camp/faction have some restrictions, which are always at the discretion of event staff.

Gasoline generators are NOT ALLOWED inside the established Theme Zone areas of the event (this is for safety reasons). In those areas, you may only use propane generators or diesel generators. Please try to limit generator noise if your generator is right next to someone else’s camping area, and be aware of your exhaust too.

Gasoline generators can only be used in the general camping areas outside the established Theme Zone, providing you do so safely. Be VERY careful about how you store your fuel. Please try to limit generator noise if your generator is right next to someone else’s camping area, and be aware of your exhaust too.

Built-in RV generators may be used in most areas, providing they are used safely.

WEAPONS POLICIES

You are allowed to bring prop weapons for your costume.

1. GUNS- Firearms are prohibited unless you bring your NON-FIRING/REPLICA weaponry. No real firearms are allowed, whether loaded or not, unless they have been permanently disabled (removing the firing pin is NOT enough). No black powder guns.
Airsoft guns and BB guns do not need to be permanently disabled, but must have pellets, C02, and batteries (if applicable) removed before entering the event.
Squirt guns should not have water in them (empty props only) - because while a few of your friends might want to get squirted around camp to cool off, squirt gun fights out here could get pretty annoying pretty quickly. Also, squirt guns don't usually make the best looking props without a lot of effort.

2. AMMO- No real ammunition is allowed, even if you’re just wearing it as part of a costume (dummy/deactivated bullets are fine however). You may not fire any blank-firing guns, cap guns, or any prop that simulates the sound of a real gun being fired. (You can bring them, just don’t ever load them or let them make noise). Airsoft guns are allowed, but must not be loaded at any time.

3. BOWS & CROSSBOWS- Bows must NEVER be loaded while in the event area. Basically, if it’s a weapon that fires a projectile of any kind (even a Nerf gun), or makes a loud noise, don’t even think of loading or shooting it off in the event area.  This rule includes functioning slingshots.  Non-functioning, non-elastic prop slingshots for costuming purposes are still fine.

4. BLADES & POINTY THINGS – Edged weapons must be VERY dull, or should stay sheathed while you are inside the event boundaries. This includes sharp objects on costumes (spikes etc.). Event security and staff reserve the right to inspect and confiscate any weapons or items that appear to be unsafe, or are being used in an unsafe manner (they will be held for you until the end of the event).

We ask you not to carry or wear large or sharp objects through crowds of people.

AFTER DARK - We ask you not to carry large and/or dangerous objects/prop weapons at night, due to low visibility and desert terrain. Please also leave any REAL weapons in camp after dark (like baseball bats, sheathed swords, etc.)
If you have themed, obviously fake weapons without sharp edges (or heavy blunt objects) it's fine to carry them at night as long as you use common sense. For example, if it's a painted nerf gun with a sci-fi feel (such as with LEDs on it etc.) that should be perfectly appropriate to carry around after dark. As always, it is a judgement call for our staff, so if you are asked to leave something back in your camp after dark, please cooperate.

If you have questions about a specific weapon, better to ask us before you bring it out. And remember that California law supersedes any of our weapons policies. If you carry something to or at the event that is against the law in the state of CA, you do so at your own risk.

Official Logo Use

We do not allow anyone to use our official logos.

That said, we DO have some  pretty cool symbols for official missions and additional activities, as well as the Allegiance symbols.

Photography
& Filming Policies

Can I take photos or shoot film/video?

Please note-

Images (photos, video) taken at our events may not be uploaded to or hosted by any monetized platform, or monetized in any other way, without the event's expressed written permission.
We also do not allow live streaming at our events.
This is a longstanding policy that we have had for both of our events.

Anyone who attends Neotropolis may take still photos without pre-registering.
All attendees assign to Wasteland World Inc. a joint ownership in the copyright of their event imagery for the purpose of enabling Wasteland World to enforce any copyright against a third party that displays or disseminates their event imagery. Personal use is excluded from this and would include displaying on a personal website or social media page, provided that the display is not monetized and the website does not sell any product or service. Joint copyright by Wasteland World may only be waived in writing from Wasteland World ownership.
Imagery from the event may be downloaded or copied only in accordance with a creative commons license that prohibits the licensee from using the Event Imagery for commercial purposes, including CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-SA, and CC BY-NC-ND (available at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/)

Images for promotion and advertising:

In-your-face, pervasive advertising is definitely a facet of cyberpunk visual culture, and this event embraces that when it comes to displaying ads and promotion for FICTIONAL products and services. But when it comes to REAL-WORLD products and services, you may not promote those at our event or use our event to promote them. Specifically:

1. Do not take any photos or videos of any product at our event that are intended to be used as advertising or promotion for a real-world product or service. If images taken at our event are later used for product or service promotion in the real world, we reserve the right to exert our control over those images (all attendees at Neotropolis assign Wasteland World a joint copyright of imagery taken on the property as a conditions of admission to the event, just like at Wasteland Weekend). This enforcement will be at the sole discretion of event staff.

2. Do not display any advertising for real-world products or services at our event for the purposes of promotion (examples include retail website links and imagery promoting real products for sale).

3. Do not promote any products via hashtags or links (or similar) on social media posts along with images from our event.

Please Note: Our approved on-site vendors are generally excluded from these advertising and promotion restrictions.

Press and Other Approved Media:

Members of the press should notify Neotropolis staff members before their arrival so that we may assist them in covering the event (and some media outlets will qualify for free admission). Anyone who receives a complimentary press pass for the event is expected to share some of their work with staff afterwards so that we may use it for promotional purposes. (We will always make our best efforts to obtain permission from photographers and give them proper credit when using their photos for promotion.)
We expect photographers to be courteous of attendees and not take anyones' photograph who asks you not to, or who makes it clear through their actions that they do not want to be photographed. Use your best judgement. When in doubt, ask before shooting. (If possible. We don't necessarily expect you to ask everyone's permission when taking crowd shots).
All photographers must obey the same rules and codes of conduct as other attendees, including proper themed attire at all times.
Members of the media should check in at the Command Center (adjacent to Megablock One) when they arrive at the event.

Film & Video-
The above rules all apply, with additional restrictions:

Anyone taking motion photography of any sort (film, video) will need to be pre-approved by Neotropolis staff and file a permit (except for very small non-professional cameras like cell phones). If you plan on shooting video for any reason, be it media, your own personal use, a short film for YouTube, whatever, you will need to register. There is no fee. You may or may not be given a special arm band to wear while at the event that tells us you are approved by staff. Anyone seen filming without an arm band may be asked to stop, at staff discretion. Anyone who doesn't stop when asked, may be escorted out of the event.

Note: Cell phone video cameras are exempt and will be treated as still cameras for the purposes of this policy. However, even if filming with a cell phone, you may be asked to stop if it becomes in some way disruptive to the event.

Live steaming - Wasteland Weekend and / or Neotropolis is supposed to be a live event for the attendees actually there.
So please, no live streaming.

Cameras should not be HIDDEN. Attendees should have reasonable awareness of when they are being filmed (i.e. do not film people secretly).

Time lapse or long recording time installations of cameras (for example, if you want to place a camera to get an hour or more of atmosphere in the city) must be visible cameras or be labelled clearly so that people have a reasonable chance to know that they are going to be continuously on camera in that area. Also, if you are not operating the camera or standing near the camera while recording, you may not record sound. For example, if you want to put a camera on a stand or a tripod and just let it roll for a long time, the camera should be obvious and the sound recording must be off. The only exception to these hidden camera or surveillance rules are our own event-placed and operated security cameras.

Why do we have these filming policies? Several reasons. One reason is that we want to limit the number of cameras and film crews at our event. Even when a film crew is in costume, having many cameras rolling at our events can break the immersive illusion. But we certainly understand the need to get great imagery of the event (after all, some of the film crews out there will be shooting footage specifically for event staff, so that we can document this unique event and have material for future promotion). Limiting the total number of film crews and media crews is a way for us to try and strike a balance between the publicity that is so important to the continuation of this unique event, and the enjoyment of our attendees.

Another reason is that there are film and TV companies out there that would simply like to get some footage at Wasteland Weekend and / or Neotropolis to use in their low budget productions. These companies are not interested in our event, or our attendees, except to the extent that they can use them as free extras, and use our volunteer-built sets to make their low budget films look better without having to pay anything. We would like to prevent this type of exploitation of our people and the works of art they have worked hard to create.

Anyone wishing to film at Wasteland Weekend and / or Neotropolis, should immediately submit the following information to:

wastelandweekend {at} gmail [dot] com
(put “Neotropolis” somewhere in the subject line)

NEOTROPOLIS FILMING APPLICATION
The more specific and detailed information you give us below, the more you increase your chances of obtaining a film permit. We are a ticketed private event and reserve the right to refuse filming rights to anyone for any reason. And some applications will be rejected simply to keep the total number of film crews manageable.

Submit this Form-

Name:
Contact info: (phone, email, mailing address)
Name of project: (if applicable)

  1. Which days do you plan to film at Neotropolis? Let us know if you will be filming at night as well.

  2. What is the intended purpose of the footage you will be shooting? News media? Personal use only? Narrative short film? Television show? Please be as specific as possible. And you must let us know if your project is intended to be non-profit or for-profit.

  3. Tell us about your production company (if you have one) or about your background as a filmmaker. If the answer is "none, I just want to pick up a camera and film my friends", that's fine. Tell us that.

  4. Is there anything specific you plan to shoot (scenes, story lines, posed groups)? Describe in detail. Feel free to submit scripts and/or storyboards if you have them.

  5. Describe the equipment you will be using, and the size of your crew. If filming at night, will you be using artificial lighting? If so, describe. NOTE: Drone cameras are not permitted (except for our in house video team, whose drones are already pre-approved).

The event will not supply power for film crews. You may not plug into our generators for lighting or to recharge batteries, etc.. (Exceptions may be made for our own official event documentary crews).

Even if you are given a permit to film at Wasteland Weekend and/ or Neotropolis, significant changes to any of the above information once you arrive, could be cause for your permit to be revoked (Don't tell us you're just going to use a small camcorder to shoot your friends and then try to show up with a full pro crew.)

If the intended use of your footage changes after Wasteland Weekend and / or Neotropolis is over (i.e. you wish to sell it to another company for them to use as part of a different project) you must notify us in writing for further permission.

By submitting this application, you agree to share your footage from Wasteland Weekend and /or Neotropolis with event staff so that they may use it for event promotion. (This also helps us to help you promote the end result of your hard work with all of our fans!)

Send all of the above info to neotropolisevent (at) gmail dot com
